Event Description
The PCDA National Coin and Currency Convention. Formerly known as the National and World Paper Money Convention, effective with the 2012 edition, the event is enlarging its focus to also include dealers offering United States, foreign and ancient coins, as well as its traditional base of foreign and United States Paper Money. When the PCDA was founded, now more than a quarter century ago, its membership consisted largely of dealers whose commercial offerings were narrowly focused on the paper money collecting specialty area. As the numismatic marketplace has evolved over the last 25+ years, however, rare currency has become much more a mainstream area within the hobby. During this same period the PCDA membership has grown to just shy of 150, with a far larger percentage of the membership also including significant coin offerings in the general thrust of their business operations. The expansion of the commercial focus of the event and its change in name reflects this evolution of our membership and the expanded nature of their offerings to the numismatic community. The PCDA National Coin and Currency Convention will feature a major auction of paper money rarities cataloged and conducted by Lyn F. Knight Currency Auctions of Overland Park Kansas, a 70 booth bourse area with leading numismatic dealers from no less than 18 states, as well as club meetings and educational programs.
